Synopsis

Story & Concept

When three strangers awaken in a strange room with no doors, they are forced to try and reconstruct their identities and recall their lost memories. What they discover, however, raises even more question. Who are they, where are they, and what is the goal of the mysterious stranger amongst them?

Thematic Note: The film deals with concepts of identity, transhumanism, ethics, and was intended to be only the first chapter in a larger tale…

Director's Note

Wild Syndrome was based on a concept Kyle Emmerson developed in 2005, a scenario in which technology had developed to a point where the human mind could be simulated. In 2023, he was able to pitch the idea to a classroom of his peers, and it was chosen as one of the productions for the Digital Video 280 class at Vancouver Island University, under the tutelage and guidance of Professor Richard Boyce.
